BiographyCurrently an Art Director at Charlesbridge, Kristen spends her days collaborating with illustrators, authors, and editors to create thoughtful books for children, reading them to her son at night. As founding publisher
of Page Street Kids, the children’s division of Page Street Publishing in Salem, MA, she focused on working with new talent and publishing art-led narrative picture books. She is proud of the imprint’s early critical success highlighted by 10 starred reviews over 23 books and several mentions on best-books-of-the-year lists. At Candlewick Press, Kristen worked on multiple award-winning and New York Times best-selling books, kicked off a global Entertainment imprint, and managed the art department for thirteen years. She got her start in children's books designing a variety of projects at Chronicle Books in San Francisco. Kristen graduated from the University of Buffalo with degrees in Communication Design and Art History, and has pursued further studies at SVA, Harvard, and Mass Art. Her passion for children’s books has been passed down from her mother, an elementary teacher, and her grandmother, a librarian. Most weekends Kristen can be found swimming, hiking, shopping the farmer's markets, and curling up with a good book next to the wood stove at her lake house in Maine. |
